Patient Safety is Our Top Priority

2017 National Patient Safety Goals

At WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, patient safety is our top priority. To achieve our mission of providing professional service, compassionate treatment and a safe environment for our patients, our staff members constantly are focused on the following safety goals:

  • Improve the accuracy of patient identification.
  • Improve the effectiveness of communication among caregivers.
  • Improve the safety of using medications.
  • Improve the safety of clinical alarm systems.
  • Reduce the risk of health care associated infections.
  • Accurately and completely reconcile medications across the continuum of care.
  • Identify safety risks inherent in the patient population.
  • Universal Protocol of:
    •  Conducting a Pre-Procedure Verification Process
    •  Marking the Procedure Site         

    •  Performing a Time-Out
