H1N1 Update

Hospital Visitation Policy

These changes to the visitation policy were taken as precautionary measures to protect our patients, families, visitors and staff from unnecessary exposure to the influenze (flu) virus. We appreciate your help and cooperation in reducing the spread of the flu.

  • People age 19 or youonger are not permitted to visit the hospital unless they are being treated. This age group has been found to be more susceptible to the flu, making it easier for them to catch the flu as well as transmit it.
  • People with flu-like symptoms (fever, aches, sore throat, cough, etc) are not permitted to visit.
  • It is also recommended that people in poor health avoid visiting the hospital as catching the flu could worsen their condition.

In addition, the following areas have more specific guidelines:

Emergency Department

Please limit the number of adults accompanying minor children as patients to the Emergency Department. We request only one parent or guardian per child.

Labor and Delivery

Siblings are permitted to visit the mother and newborn in the hospital, but must first be screened at the department nursing station for flu.
