Visitation Hours and Policies

Maternal-Infant Unit Visitation Hours and Policies

WellStar West Georgia Medical Center is aware of how important visitors are to our patients. Our main focus is in providing exceptional service, the best possible clinic care, and our patients a healthy recovery.

To help keep our moms and newborns as healthy as they can be, we ask that you to respect Maternal Infant Services’ visitation hours and policies. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. All visitors and family members must be free of infection (colds, sore throats, cold sores, etc.), and must not have been recently exposed to infectious diseases (chicken pox, mumps, measles, etc.).

We ask that siblings and children do not stay overnight nor visit for long periods of time, as children can become bored and restless. We encourage you to get as much rest as possible while you are here. If you do not wish to see visitors or take phone calls, ask your nurse and this can be arranged.

Please remind visitors to wash their hands before holding your new baby.

Delivery Room Visitors

Three visitors are allowed in the labor, delivery and triage rooms. One support person is allowed in the C-section and recovery rooms. Siblings are allowed to visit. Other children younger than 12 are not allowed in the labor and delivery area.

Maternity Floor Visitors

The father or a support person may visit at any time. Visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and visitors will be asked to leave during physician rounding.

Flu Season Visitors

No visitors allowed under the age 19 will be allowed. Siblings can visit but must be checked for fever and flu at the nurses station. Siblings and children will not be allowed in the newborn nursery.
