John Allen, MD

John Allen, MD

Dr. John Allen earned his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, Georgia. He completed a residency in General Surgery at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. In addition, he completed a fellowship in Advanced GI/MIS/Bariatric Surgery at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Greenville in Greenville, South Carolina.

His fellowship training consisted of complex abdominal wall reconstruction utilizing advanced robotic techniques as well as in-depth bariatric training. While a resident at Memorial University Medical Center, he was recognized as the Outstanding Resident of the Year. In addition, he was awarded the Resident as Teachers Fellowship, which is only presented to two residents each year. He was co-chair of the Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery Curriculum, responsible for establishing and implementing the curriculum for endoscopic training required by the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Allen is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Georgia Society of the American College of Surgeons, American Hernia Society, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).

Wes Turton, MD

Wes Turton, MD

Dr. Wes Turton, a native of Georgia, completed his internship and surgical residency at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics in Augusta. A member of the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center medical staff since 2007, he is a past president of the medical staff and is the current medical director of the bariatric surgery program.

Dr. Turton is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is a member of several medical societies, including the Southeastern Surgical Congress, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of General Surgeons. He is also a fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, where he also completed his residency.
