Wes Turton, MD

Wes Turton, MD

Dr. Wes Turton, a native of Georgia, completed his internship and surgical residency at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics in Augusta. A member of the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center medical staff since 2007, he is a past president of the medical staff and is the current medical director of the bariatric surgery program.

Dr. Turton is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is a member of several medical societies, including the Southeastern Surgical Congress, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of General Surgeons. He is also a fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, where he also completed his residency.

Charles Ferguson, MD

Charles Ferguson, MD

Dr. Charles Ferguson is a surgeon at Emory Clark-Holder Clinic and has been a member of the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center medical staff since 2010. He specializes in weight loss surgery, including breast surgery, gastrointestinal surgery and colorectal surgery with an emphasis on laparoscopic techniques.

Dr. Ferguson is a highly skilled bariatric surgeon who can perform gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and LAP-BAND® surgery for weight loss.

A cum laude graduate of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Dr. Ferguson completed his internship and surgical residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, both in Boston, and a Fellowship at Broadgreen Hospital University of Liverpool in Liverpool, England. He has also served as an assistant professor of surgery at Emory University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Ferguson has served on the Board of Governors for the American College of Surgeons and has served in leadership positions in other professional organizations both at a state and national level. He has also received several awards for his work teaching surgical residents.

Dr. Ferguson serves on the hospital board for the Diospi Suyana Hospital in Peru where annually he volunteers his time, serving as a part of a medical mission team. He has also been to Ecuador as a medical volunteer. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
