• What is MyPortal?

MyPortal is an online tool that goes a step beyond simply displaying information. It helps you manage your health care easily and securely. You can access MyPortal at your convenience.

• Is there a fee to use MyPortal?

MyPortal is a free service offered to our patients.

• Can I access MyPortal from all my electronic devices?

MyPortal can be accessed from desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones. 

• Is my information safe?

Yes. MyPortal is a secure web portal or webpage that uses encryption (security measures) to keep unauthorized persons from reading communications.

• How old do you have to be to participate in the MyPortal?

You must be 18 years old to participate in MyPortal, WellStar West Georgia Medical Center's patient portal.

• How do I enroll in MyPortal, WGMC's patient healthcare portal?

There are two ways to enroll: 

  • Enrollment by WGMC staff at the time of registration or during hospitalization by our Social Services or Medical Records Departments.
  • You can self-enroll from a link on WGMC's website, wellstar.org/wgmc

• What do I need to self-enroll?

You need your medical record number and your email address must be on file in Medical Records. 

• Where do I find my medical record number?

You may find this number on your patient armband or paperwork. It is the nine-digit number following M (Example – M000987654). If you don’t know your medical record number, you may call Medical Records Department at (706) 845-3958.

• Can’t recall if you have previously given your email address to WGMC at the time of registration?

You may call Medical Records Department at 706-845-3958.

• What are the hours of operation for the Medical Records Department?

They are available from 7 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

• How do I get a Logon ID and Password after I enroll?

You will receive an email with a link to the portal and your one-time Logon ID and Password. Click the link provided and enter the Logon ID and Password. Follow the instructions.

• How long is my onetime Logon ID and Password valid?

It is good for seven days from date of receipt. If seven days has passed and you have not accessed MyPortal with the one-time Logon ID and Password you received by email, call the Medical Records Department at (706) 845-3958.

• Do I have to create my own Logon ID and Password the first time I sign into MyPortal?

Yes, you will be prompted to create your own, self-made, unique Logon ID and Password

• Are there special requirements for creating my Logon ID and Password?

Yes:

  • Logon ID and Password must be at least 4 characters long but no more than 12 characters long.
  • Logon ID and Password must contain at least 2 numbers.
  • Logon ID cannot contain special characters, such as ! @ # $.

• Is the Logon ID and Password case sensitive?

Yes.

• What if I forget my Logon ID or Password?

If you forget either your Logon ID or Password, you can click the “Forgot Password” or “Forgot Logon ID” link on the sign-in screen of MyPortal. If you have forgotten both your Logon ID and Password, you must call WGMC Medical Records at (706) 845-3958 to have your Logon ID and Password reset.

• How can I access MyPortal after I create my own Logon ID and Password?

You can access the portal from WGMC's website, wellstar.org/wgmc, through the MyPortal enrolled user link.

• What information can I see in MyPortal?

All lab results except HIV and genetic testing. Imaging (Radiology) reports, allergies, discharge instructions, discharge medications, scheduled appointments, visit history and more can be seen in MyPortal.

• When will my lab results and imaging reports be available in MyPortal?

Results and reports will be available 36 hours after completion or discharge.

• Will I be able to see my results and tests from past years in MyPortal?

No. Lab results and some reports will be available if performed June 16, 2014, or later.

• Will my entire medical record be in MyPortal?

No, you may obtain your entire medical record from WGMC's Medical Records Department. Call (706) 845-3958 for more information; however, your entire visit history with dates and reason for visit will display. Inpatient visits have a bed icon to the left of the visit date. All other visits have a thermometer icon to the left of the visit date.

• Can I give my family access to my personal health information in MyPortal?

Yes. This is called proxy access. You and the person you want to make your proxy must both sign the proxy consent and present a state or federal issued photo ID. Contact the Medical Records Department at (706) 845-3958 for more information.

• Can I change my self-created password?

Yes. From the main screen in the portal, click preferences at the bottom of the screen, then click change password.

• Can I change my phone number or address from MyPortal?

Yes. Sign into the portal, main screen, click Profile icon at top right of the page, then click update profile. You can change your address, phone number, email address, marital status, next of kin, person to notify, then click submit.

• I changed my street address in MyPortal, but the old address still displays.

The change(s) you submitted must be accepted by the Medical Records Department first. After acceptance, the change(s) you submitted will be visible the next time you sign into MyPortal.

• What should I do if some of the information in MyPortal is not correct?

You should contact WGMC Medical Records at (706) 845-3958.

• Can I request medication refills or a new prescription from MyPortal?

No. You should contact your physician for medication refills and new prescriptions.

• Can I send my physician questions from within MyPortal?

No. You should contact your physician’s office directly with any questions. 

• What if I have questions about MyPortal?

Contact the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center Helpdesk at (706) 845-3757. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. Your call will be routed to the appropriate department. There is also a Contact Us section on the homepage of MyPortal that allows you to submit questions you have regarding the portal. You can expect a response within two business days.

Note: Please be sure to use the Contact Us section on your secure MyPortal site and not the Contact Us section on the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center website.

MyPortal is not for medical emergencies. Please call 911 if you have a medical emergency.
