The West Georgia Hospital Medicine program at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center is staffed by the physician practice operating under West Georgia Health Physicians. Serving as medical director for the program is Rod Duraski, MD, a board-certified internal medicine specialist who practiced as a traditional internist caring for patients both in the office setting and hospital in LaGrange for 16 years.
Hospitalists are physicians who specialize in caring for various types of medical conditions that require hospitalization. Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine, the hospitalists provide personalized, round-the-clock care while a patient is in the hospital. Upon discharge, patients return to their primary care physician to continue on their road to recovery.
This approach, which is a growing trend in the health care industry, allows primary care physicians more flexibility and time to devote to the patients they see in their offices, while hospitalists have the opportunity to monitor their patients’ status frequently throughout the day and to spend more face time with both patients and their families.
