Whitney Potts, Patient Access Specialist
Labor & Delivery
September 2019 - Employee of the Month
Whitney Potts, WellStar West Georgia's September 2019 Team Member of the Month, serves as a Patient Access Specialist in Labor & Delivery, and prior to that, served in Patient Access in our Emergency Department. In Labor & Delivery, she performs bedside registration and insurance verification, and she also helps our patients seek financial assistance.
Her supervisor says Whitney takes pride in her role, exemplifies the meaning of customer service, and goes above and beyond to help her team whenever possible. When Whitney transitioned to her current role in Labor & Delivery, she kick-started the process by making tip sheets and organizing the area where Patient Access Specialists are stationed. She makes the time to help new team members work through recurring errors she sees in the work queues to ensure new hires will not continue making the same mistakes. Her co-workers say that Whitney never seems impatient or rushed when they ask questions but shows concern and compassion when trying to help them.
Kathy Hammock, our nurse manager in Labor & Delivery, also said that Whitney is an asset to the Maternal/Infant Services team and has greatly assisted in their processes and work flow.
Whitney said that God, her husband, and her 4-year-old daughter are her world. She says of her work: “I can’t fix every problem my patient may have, but I will do what I can to make a difference where I can.”
Thank you, Whitney, for all you do to help your fellow team members, our clinical staff, our mothers and their newborns. We are proud you are a part of the WellStar West Georgia family.
